MS 9 | ...but with sparkles! (+ Exciting Scenes from Ep.10)
Updated: Sep 27, 2019
Hi to all the new people! We love you! Also hello to our seasoned listeners, we love you as well!
Everybody is twelve as the Fry Girls talk Lillian Gish, ice cream, and LA neighbourhoods. Now, carry on with your fascinating caboose.
In order to be productive, Christa and Sage decided to NOT have a sleepover so they could actually function and record this minisode. They chat about fascinating cabooses, Jello (yuck-o or no?) and ice cream (definitely NOT yuck-o) and wonder why everyone is 12.
Vegetarian Lime "Pine"? What the...? Okay, well...here's the recipe for Sage's mom's Lime Pine. All of the church potlucks that Christa has ever been to have this stuff -- sans sparkles, though. Got a good church potluck recipe you love? Want to share? Let us know!
Fry Guys and Fry Gals! Because The Hamburglar & Grimace are just like Christa and Sage!
Speaking of fries and McDonald's, Sage's 3rd birthday party was in the McDonald's red caboose in Boulder, CO. It's no longer there :( You can't see the caboose in all its glory in this picture, but this is the inside :)
Speak lovingly to yourself, or speak not at all. That's what Sage & Christa say!
Sage's favorite thing about the Lillian Gish episode was that she's a badass woman who did her own stunts! Check it out:
Christa's favorite thing about the Lillian Gish episode was.... she doesn't remember. But she does (barely) remember the name of this book! (And here's the other collection of Nora Ephron essays that Christa mentioned and recommends. DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT YOUR NECK! We know, it's a struggle not to, but chin up and hold your head high. Because it's better for your neck. ;) )
The LA Conservancy has some GREAT tours! You should definitely check them out. The A&H duo (aka the Fry Gals) went on their Art Deco tour and had a blast. And then, since it was National French Fries Day, went to get some fries after. Here are pictures for proof! (Paired with some audio from Episode 5.)
LA is large and ridiculously spread out! Here's a map; see for yourself. (Now add billions of cars and imagine your commute.)
If you want to be a dear and deliver us some ice cream, you should know...
Favorite ice cream flavors for Sage:
Cherry Garcia (Ben & Jerry's), cookies and cream (ONLY from Haagen-dazs), and daiquiri ice from Baskin Robins.
Vanilla ice cream with sea salt caramel swirls, peanut butter, some sort of chocolate and something crunchy like almonds or peanuts or waffle bits, preferably chocolate-covered. Which covers the chocolate requirement, too! Others: Americone Dream (Ben & Jerry's), green tea, pistachio. ALSO weird flavors from specialty ice cream shops. (Cows in PEI has AMAZING ice cream and it's hard to compete with them. Plus, they have great cow puns.) But the all-star is always soft serve (vanilla) all day, every day.
Her love affair with ice cream is no joke.
Here she is with many of her ice creams through the years, including the gelato she talks about in this minisode (basil, strawberry, yogurt). A great love affair should make your heart melt.
Sing yourself out with these two- My Hero, Zero from School House Rock and Zero to Hero from Hercules!!!!
See Ya Next week. stay cool!
